Flight over the Alps XXL

This unforgettable flight over the Alps begins at our ALPEN AIR terminal in Augsburg. From there, we first fly via Dachau toward the state capital, Munich. Shortly afterwards, the architecturally brilliant Allianz Arena of FC Bayern Munich comes into view. At the same time, we allow ourselves to be enchanted by the beauty of Munich from a low altitude of just 600 meters. As we continue flying low, we discover the English Garden and the German Museum. Meanwhile, we hover over Marienplatz and the Frauenkirche, as well as the elegant Nymphenburg Palace. At a slow speed, we then circle the futuristic BMW World and, of course, the Olympic Park with its impressive 291-meter-high Olympic Tower.

From here, we gradually continue past Lake Simssee toward the Bavarian Sea, Lake Chiemsee. In the heart of Bavaria’s largest lake and against the impressive Alpine backdrop, Herrenchiemsee Castle and Fraueninsel Island await. Shortly thereafter, we set course for the mountains, and only minutes later, we gaze through the large windows at the Kampenwand and the Wilder Kaiser. Over the half hour that follows, we simply take in the grace of the mountains. At the same time, we fly nearly 150 kilometers along the northern edge of the Alps. As a result, this unforgettable section of the Grand Scenic Flight reveals the full majesty of the Bavarian landscape from above.

En route, we pass the Wendelstein after crossing the Inn Valley and, step by step, discover one idyllic lake after another within the impressive mountain world. First, we pass the circular Thiersee. Then, the picturesque Schliersee appears, followed by the small Spitzingsee and the famous Tegernsee. After that, we cross the Isar and admire the Sylvensteinsee, while the Brauneck and the Benediktenwand guide us toward the Kochelsee and the green-turquoise Walchensee. Meanwhile, in the distance, the rugged Karwendel mountain range impresses us. Behind it, Garmisch rises majestically, and soon afterward, Germany’s highest mountain comes into view. Eventually, the 2,962-meter peak of the Zugspitze feels almost within reach, while the deep-blue Eibsee sparkles below in the valley.

Next, we gradually conclude our Grand Scenic Flight with the beauty of the Ammergau Alps and the mountain-framed Plansee. Before long, however, another highlight appears. Finally, the imposing fairytale castle of King Ludwig II, Neuschwanstein Castle, stands before us at the foot of the mountains, overlooking Lake Forggensee. Undoubtedly, the Bavarian king himself would have loved to admire this view from our aircraft.
